This
is our seventh annual Expo and we have expanded into two buildings to
accommodate all of the wonderful vendors who will be exhibiting this
year.
As you enter the main building, you will stroll down meandering paths
under towering trees surrounded by beautiful flowering plants and shrubs
and immediately transformed by the sights, sounds and smells of summer.
You will see the newest in garden, pond and patio products all displayed
in a beautiful garden like setting.
Beautiful Koi and fancy goldfish, pond and garden plants and supplies,
outdoor lighting, garden décor, lawn equipment and portable hot
tubs will be on display and ready for purchase. If you don't have a
green thumb, there are numerous lawn and garden professionals who can
help you install and maintain the garden or pond of your dreams.
Local
garden clubs and rescue groups will be on hand to answer your questions
and promote their upcoming events. Make sure and bring a list of questions
and a pen and notebook because we have some wonderful seminars featuring
local horticulturists.
Saturday at 11 am, WGN radio personality Mike Nowak will have
a seminar titled "What the heck are they doing to my yard?"
Mike will give you some ideas on lawn maintenance as well as questions
to ask any lawn care professionals you might hire to work on your yard.
Saturday at 1 pm, the editor of Chicagoland Gardening Magazine, Carolyn
Ulrich will tell us which perennials are best suited for Northwest Indiana
and the Chicago South Suburbs.
Sunday at 1 pm, Wayne Gruber, Purdue Horticulturalist will tell
us all about what's new for your gardens in 2008, and at 2 pm Susan
Powell will give us some ideas on "curb appeal" to update
the appearance of your front yard.
We
have delicious food available, children's activities and door prizes
that will complete your day of indoor fun.
So, start celebrating spring by joining us for a weekend of fun filled
learning.
Proceeds
from this year's expo will go towards a grounds renovation project including
the installation of a three-tiered fountain at the main gate of the
Lake County Fairgrounds.
